Hey, mamas! The holidays are one of the most stressful times of the year, especially as a parent, and although it's only October, I'm sure your holiday anxiety is already revving up! There are gifts to buy, places to go, people to see, and you're responsible for planning all of it. Let me make your holiday planning way easier and introduce to you an easy holiday tradition that your family is guaranteed to love--the Christmas Adam celebration!
If you haven't heard about Christmas Adam before, let me explain: Adam came before Eve, so on December 23rd, the day before Christmas Eve, you and your family can get together for an evening of festive fun, your own mini holiday get together!
I'm not sure when this tradition became popular exactly, but I've been celebrating Christmas Adam with my family since before I can remember. Maybe they saw it on social media (those were the years that Facebook was in its infancy...) but regardless, it is one of our most beloved family traditions. We get together in comfy clothes, take it easy, relax, and exchange small gifts, and every year everyone loves it.

Keep it Simple!
When it comes to celebrating the holidays with little kids, there is often a LOT of work involved. But now I'm officially giving you permission to do less, mama. Christmas Adam shouldn't involve a whole lot of work--it's all about taking it easy, and enjoying time with the family. Let me lay a down a couple of ground rules:
Number one: Comfort is queen! No cumbersome coats or heavy layers at this Christmas Adam party! Once the sun goes down, your family is only allowed to wear comfy clothes! Pick up a fine loungewear set for yourself, and a Kyte Baby or Quincy Mae pajama set for your little ones, so you can enjoy Christmas Adam with maximum coziness.
Number two: No cooking allowed! Like I said, you're doing less tonight, mama. Don't even step foot in the kitchen! Pull out your phone, open up the Dominos app, and get a pizza delivered.
Number three: Give the kids one low-stakes gift. This prevents them from begging to open presents early, and makes the Christmas Adam gathering even more special. Take a small box and place a magical Maileg mouse inside of it, or a wooden boxcar from Candylab toys!
This way, you can enjoy the entire evening without any stressful planning, all within the comfort of your own home!

For Families with Older Kids
A night at home playing games, eating pizza, and watching Christmas movies is perfect for families with little ones. If your kids are older (preteens, teenagers, young adults), consider making Christmas Adam more exciting with this fun game that my parents implemented once my siblings and I entered our teen years:
Instead of giving a small gift, give everyone in the family a budget of $20. Load everyone up in the car, head down to Walmart or Target. Everyone draws names to find out who they're getting a gift for, and then you all have twenty minutes to hunt for a gift for your person. This way, everyone can contribute some fun to the party, and you're not solely responsible for creating all of the holiday magic!
It might not sound like much, but over the years, I've found some pretty great gifts for under $20! I remember one year, I drew my brother's name for the person I'm getting a gift for. I happened to find his favorite candy on clearance and got bags and bags and bags of it. I was carrying out like four Target bags of snacks for him, while everyone else only had one or two things!
Make sure everybody hides their gift so nobody spoils the surprise! Once you get back home, wrap them up, pass them out, and have fun exchanging gifts with the family!

The holiday season is filled with fun, sure, but it can also be exhausting! Take the evening of December 23rd, host a Christmas Adam party for the family, and enjoy a low-key evening of holiday magic together. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are for extended family, grandparents, cousins, church services, and holiday photos--this Christmas Adam celebration is just for you.
