Everyone loves twinning with their kiddo, but finding cohesive pieces for you and your little one can be challenging. There's definitely a time and a place for identical outfits, but those looks don't always feel the most authentic. It's very tricky! Matching moments are more about capturing a shared vibe and coordinating looks in a subtle, cohesive way. Here's our Mommy and Mini Matching Guide to help you put together a complete look with your little one, not turning them into your clone.

Selecting with Intention:

At Wrightsville Ave Boutique, we are all about curating our collection and picking high-quality pieces that coordinate and make sense together. When you're picking out outfits for you and your little one, you need to get into that same "curating" mindset. Shop with intention.

Start with a color palette. If it's just you and one kid, this should be easy, but it's easy to get overwhelmed and pick too many colors for your palette if you have more than one kid. If you're dealing with putting together looks for multiple children, pick an "anchor" color and then select one neutral to pair with it. Just by having these key colors pinned down, you're making things much easier on yourself!

Mix textures, not colors. If you have too many differing colors in your outfits, things won't can get muddy and won't look very cohesive. Instead of using a new color for each outfit, use different textures.

For example, you could get yourself a red dress and a matching dress in pink for your daughter--but that's not very "matchy matchy." Instead, maybe you can wear the red satin dress, and she could wear a cable-knit cardigan in the same red? Different textures add depth, and keeping the same color palette means the looks are still coordinated, whereas the same texture across multiple colors can look flat.

Let's See it in Action:

Let's say you and your two kids, a little boy and a baby girl, are taking photos together for Valentine's Day. Let's start with the color palette. Since it's you and two kids, we don't want to pick too many colors and make things look muddy. Instead, pick one anchor color and a neutral to pair it with. For Valentine's Day, our anchor color can be red, and the neutral can be cream.

Already there's a world of possibilities with that color palette. Let's make some intentional choices about the outfit pieces so that the looks all match.

For you, a red gingham dress is a great option, and you can pair it with some lowkey jewelry or neutral accessories. For your little boy, a chunky red sweater with light khakis, or some red chinos and a cream button-down shirt makes a cute matching style. For baby, a cream romper with a red bow is an absolutely adorable, darling look. And just like that, you have your outfits organized and ready!

Making matching moments is always fun, but never easy. Start shopping at Wrightsville Ave Boutique, where many of our brands design their clothes with coordination in mind! We'd love to help you find a matching moment you love, as stress-free as possible!
