You've taught your child how to be clean. You taught them how and when to wash their hands, you keep sani-wipes on hand whenever they're around, and you never let them head to school without their little bottle of hand sanitizer. And somehow, every year, they manage to catch a nasty bug after just a few weeks in class. And it always comes with the grossest, crunchiest cough ever.
The dreaded "Back-To-School Plague" is an inevitability that every parent must deal with, and for many parents, it's already here. There's nothing worse than seeing your little one miserable, and you're probably exhausted taking care of them, too. You can't cure the common cold, but you can still make sure your little one is cozy, comfortable, and quietly entertained with our exclusive guide*:

The Fever Wardrobe
Step one to surviving your little one's sick day is to keep them as comfortable as possible. Our top mom hack for cozy kiddos is to use bamboo fabric pajamas. Items made of bamboo make for the best sick-day uniform, because the natural fibers are breathable and moisture-wicking.
When your kid is sick, they're bouncing between being sweaty and chilly. You can't dress them in heavy sweats, or they'll become even more cranky. Kids' sensitive skin becomes even more sensitive when they're dealing with a fever or body aches, so you want smooth, soft fabric against their skin, like bamboo. Bamboo PJ's feel like a buttery-soft, cool, soothing hug on your little one, making them perfect for when they're feeling crummy.
Kyte Baby pajamas are a favorite of ours here at Wrightsville Ave. Their super-soft bamboo PJ's feel way cooler than cotton, and lacks the uncomfortable friction that other fabrics possess. Feverish babies sweat a lot, and Kyte Baby's moisture-wicking fabric will prevent them from ever feeling damp or clammy once the fever breaks. These pajamas are also hypoallergenic and free of harsh chemicals, so even the most sensitive babies can rest easy in them.
We also love Quincy Mae pajamas for our little ones, especially when it comes to sick days. The cloud-like texture of these pajamas and the super smooth, flat-seamed, tag-free interior means that you won't have to worry about your little one getting irritable or fussy, and they have a good amount of stretch, so they're comfortable when your kid is sick in bed, laying on the couch, and when they start moving around again once they feel better! They also have plenty of options like two-way zip footies and two-piece PJ sets, which makes it easier than ever for you to quickly take care of any necessary outfit swaps, diaper changes, or temperature checks.

The "Reset" Bath
Parents, we all know that one of the best ways to relax on a sick day is with a nice, soothing bath. When your little kid is sick, crying, aching, and the cold meds aren't working, the best reset is a warm bath. (Notice I said warm, not hot!) The problem is that, for little kids, baths often feel like a chore, so getting your sick child to get into the tub isn't always an easy task.
If they're resisting bath time, try to sweeten the deal. Some parents might use a treat, or water toys, but we suggest bath bombs! Bath bombs are the best way to take their bath and turn it from a chore into a treat, and they'll have a blast!
Our favorite brand at the boutique is Two Sisters Spa bath bombs. These bath bombs are made with 100% clean, organic ingredients, so you won't need to worry about harsh chemicals against your baby's sensitive skin. The delicious scents mean kids love them, and the water-based colorants mean that your tub won't be stained after bath time is over, too!
These bath bombs don't just dissolve in the water like standard bath bombs. They fizzle and create colors while you hold them under running water, and they create soapy suds that actually get your kid clean, instead of staining their skin and making the bathwater look weird.
The best part? Each bath bomb has a surprise toy inside! Put your sick kid in the bath, plop in a Two Sisters Spa bath bomb, and watch them have fun while the steam and warm water work their magic. Your baby's aching body will be soothed, the kid-safe ingredients will nourish their skin, and their congestion will be relieved, too.

Couch-Bound Entertainment
The worst part of a sick day with your kiddo is that inevitable point in the day where they're too awake to sleep, too sick to play, and so bored that they're miserable. All parents have to occasionally rely on extra screen time when it comes to their kid being bored, but on a sick day, your kid will eventually get overstimulated and need a screen break!
You should have a toybox for them dedicated to quiet, screen-free toys that are simple and easy to play with. No big puzzles, no toys with multiple moving parts, and certainly nothing that lights up, makes noise, or requires batteries. Think small, self-contained toys that they can hold and play with on the couch or in bed.
One of our favorite recommendations for sick day entertainment are books! Even if your kiddo isn't old enough to read independently, there's nothing quite like a calming hour on the couch, having snuggles and story time with your little one. Need some bookshelf inspo? We got you covered: here's our collection of kid-friendly books!
Another big boutique favorite is Maileg Mice. These magical mice are small, but mighty, and are one of the absolute best toys for little kids. They come in the cutest matchbox packaging (which honestly work great as nursery decor, too), they don't make any noise, and they require zero batteries. Their construction is top-notch, meaning your little kid will enjoy playing with them long after their sick day, and they can even be passed down to younger siblings when your kid ages out of them. Because they fit perfectly into your sick kid's hands and require very little physical energy to play with, these mice are some of the best companions your kid could have on their sick day.
