The life of a mother is never quiet. Even on the day of rest, you're doing a lot of working, and very little relaxing. See, weekends for moms are never just "weekends." While everyone else gets to lounge around, moms are chasing kids around, driving them around, going to sports practice, and planning the week ahead.
The house finally quiets down around 8:00 Sunday night, and you're feeling exhausted. I know you're tempted to collapse, doom scroll, and couch potato it out until you fall asleep, but that's not the way to end your weekend or get ready for the week ahead! Just by introducing a 30-minute, intentional routine, you can make sure you're actually able to relax and charge your batteries for Monday.

Step One: The Unplugged Wind-Down
Your first course of action is to reclaim just fifteen minutes of your peace. Once you finally get the kids tucked into bed, drawing a bath or doing a 13-step skincare routine doesn't feel luxurious--it's just more work to do. The first part of your Sunday reset is to unplug and chill out.
After a long, stressful day, you might feel tempted to pull up your phone, scroll through Reels or Tiktok to get some laughs, and cheer up a little. But that's rarely the what happens! The omni-present algorithm is amazing at showing you controversial, intense content to keep you engaged, and a lot of that content can make you feel even worse. While it's always important to stay informed, you have to dedicate some time to leaving the outside world alone and just focusing on you, and your inner world.
When I say "unplug," I mean really unplug. The TV stays off. Your phone gets put on silent, and put face down on the table. Unplug from your responsibilities, too--this is no time to go through your mail, fold laundry, or start writing a todo list for next week. Grab a cup of tea, get on the couch, put a cozy blanket in your life and just be.
You can meditate, pray, mentally unpack your day, whatever you want, just no doomscrolling and no overstimulating your brain. If your brain is feeling restless, grab a magazine to look at. Nothing too text-heavy, we're trying to unwind here, just something you can mindlessly peer over to calm your brain down. You can also turn on light, gentle ambient music or white noise, but nothing too loud or with lyrics. If your brain is really, really loud, journaling is a great way to calm down, too.

Step 2: The Hydration Station
After a day of washing bottles, doing dishes, endless loads of laundry, and dealing with sticky toddlers, your hands are wrecked. The life of the mom is not sensitive-skin-safe, and dry hands is one of the big headaches you have to deal with.
Like I mentioned before, a multi-step moisturizing routine just feels like more work on a Sunday night, so we're simplifying things here. Keep a bottle of luxury lotion, like our Henne Hand Cream, on your nightstand so it's easily in reach once the kids get put to bed. This rich, organic, ultra-hydrating hand cream absorbs super fast and doesn't leave any greasy residue, making this perfect for busy moms.
Another boutique Henne favorite is their luxury lip tints. Their combination of buildable coverage, moisturizing organic materials, and beautiful packaging make this a lip tint that's aesthetically pleasing and looks fabulous on. It's the perfect low-maintenance way to refresh your lips on Monday morning, eliminating chapped, dry lips and leaving you feeling soft, supple, and confident.

SUMMER SHIPPING NOTE: Due to the natural, organic oils in our Henne products, it is prone to softening or melting in extreme heat. Please track your package and bring it indoors immediately upon delivery. If melting occurs, simply place it in the refrigerator for 20 minutes to re-solidify. Wrightsville Ave Boutique is not responsible for melted cosmetics left outside.

Step 3: The Elevated Lounge Uniform
You've calmed down, you're hydrated, and now it's time to finish up your relaxation routine. Do not--I repeat, do not--just slip into those raggedy old college sweatpants. And don't just leave on your shirt from the day, covered in mysterious baby stains. Toss 'em right in the hamper and find something comfy and luxurious.
Comfort does not have to equal frumpiness! Wearing high-quality, breathable natural fibers for lounging feel soft and relaxing. Because of this, it's also great for helping your mind relax, too. Physical comfort contributes to mental comfort, so getting out of any uncomfortable clothes is imperative to having a relaxing evening.
Just by investing in a single nice lounge set, you're able to turn "crashing on the couch" into an intentional act of self-care.

Breathe, Mamas!
This saying is a cliche, but it's true: You can't pour from an empty cup, mama. When you're focusing on family 24/7, self-care is the first thing that slips your mind. By taking thirty minutes for yourself on Sunday night, you're empowering yourself to be a better, more patient parent come Monday morning.
